Crew Profile
CAPTAIN RAY SHORE
Ray was born in Newport, Rhode Island where he began a yachting career on launches. He steadily continued his climb up the yachting ladder by serving as deck crew and mate on various yachts, eventually earning his 1600 Ton Oceans Master license. He has been with the EXCELLENCE program since 1989, playing a major role in the building of EXCELLENCE II, III, IV and V! Yachting has taken him to many parts of the world, with extensive time spent in the Mediterranean, New England, and the Caribbean. The immense knowledge and experience gained through these travels enables Ray to offer an array of possible itineraries as well as a pleasurable cruise. Ray is also a family man, with wife Maria, and their four wonderful children based in Ft Lauderdale, FL.
KEVIN KLATT, FIRST OFFICER
Kevin spent his youth growing up in the Midwest, United States around Lake Michigan and southern parts of California. While buckling down with his studies in GreenBay, WI for Sports Medicine his heart brought him to San Diego, CA. He continued his education with emphasis on massage therapy and personal training. During this time he was introduced to the wonderful world of yachting and hasnt looked back since. Kevin has worked on various yachts and holds a MCA Chief Mate 3000gt license. He has traveled the East and West coast of the United States, Great Lakes, Bahamas, Caribbean and the Mediterranean. He loves the outdoors where he can play volleyball, a round of golf, or hit the waves kite-‐surfing. Whether you would like to take a tender ride to explore beaches, grab some snorkel gear and find local sea life, or go for a relaxing paddleboard session, he will be more than happy to show you a memorable experience.
CHRIS IRBY, BOSUN
Born in Richmond, VA, Chris spent his childhood on the water, most notably vacationing at his family's summer house on the Chesapeake Bay. It was during these summer months that Chris developed his passion for the sea, partaking in numerous activities such as water sports, sailing and boating. Chris ultimately knew that his career path would eventually lead him to the yachting
industry. After completing High School, Chris continued his education at Radford University where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Being the avid sports fan that he is, he also played lacrosse at university. Upon graduation, the yachting industry wasstill fresh in his mind and with his bags packed, Chris headed to Ft. Lauderdale where he landed a deckhands position on M/Y Dream. Chris joined Excellence V in 2014 and strives to provide guests with a satisfying and memorable experience while onboard. His hobbies include traveling, golf, fitnessand water activities.
MARK ANSPACH, DECKHAND
Mark is a through and through Floridian. Growing up in Stuart, FL near the water got him settled and being around boats. For college, Mark decided he wanted to continue to stay in Florida to attend college and attended the University of Miami for an entrepreneurial major.However, his itching feet told him to jump ship. After graduating, he went back to Stuart and worked on several sport fish boats. Excellence V is Mark's firsttaste of luxury yachting. When he can, he travels to his family home in Abacos, Bahamas and has been all over Central America and the Caribbean.
JAMES RAKOCZY, DECKHAND
James joins Excellence V with one year under his belt in the industry. Coming from Media, Pennsylvania, he had to venture out of his comfort zone and head east to pusue his passions of water sports and fishing. This passion led him to finding the yachting industry and joining a small 126ft vessel around New England. He brings his hospitality background, where he waited tables for 6 years to EV. He is a well traveled soul, covering Europe, Central America, some bits of Africa and Alaska. He often heads to the snow for some snowboarding sessions on his holidays.
MICHAEL O'LEARY, DECKHAND
Atlanta born Michael spent his youth playing in the back country fishing and camping with his family. Early on he took a liking to fly fishing and has fly fished all over the US. When Michael was going to university obtaining his undergraduate degree in Psychology, he realized that continuing on with his Law degree was not his heart's passion. He heard about the yachting industry
from a friend of a friend and heard several exciting stories of new places, exotic locations and more opportunities to fish! He has been working on mega yachts for 12 months. He has recently joined Excellence V as a deckhand. His humor and wit carry the crew on cloudy days. He loves a good movie and camping when he can.
PHIL CURTIS, CHIEF ENGINEER
Phil resides from Brooklyn, New York. At a young age, he moved to Hawaii and spent five years sailing and working on the water where he developed a passion for the seafaring lifestyle. Shortly after returning to the main land, he decided to make a career in the maritime industry, and has now logged thousands of sea miles cruising the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Ocean.
His background includes commercial operations onboard container ships, fuel tankers, various motor yachts and multiple NATO missions in the Persian Gulf.
As a decorated sailor, Phil brings a high degree of professionalism, safety and service to the Excellence V program that will help ensure your time spent on board is enjoyed to the fullest.
WYNAND BOTHA, SECOND ENGINEER
Born and raised along the laid back coastal town of Port Elizabeth, South Africa Wynand has always enjoyed the outdoors and adventure sport lifestyle. Initially wanting to work on surfing charter yachts after finishing school he opted to study first. In 2006 he graduated from the University of Port Elizabeth with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and further certificates in Projects Management and specific short course studies in Germany. Having spent 5 years working in the
Consulting, Design, Manufacturing & Research environment he decided to leave the Engineering field and follow his other passion and started a company specializing in High-end Architectural application and fitment. Due to economic instability he decided to close the company and re-joined the Engineering field, but this time in the Super Yacht industry. He has since worked on board S/Y Mirabella III, M/Y Leila Lina, M/Y Casta Diva, M/Y Kogo and is now a solid crew member on Excellence V. In his off-‐time or whenever he gets the time, he still enjoys mountain biking or catching a few waves at his favorite holiday spot back home, St. Francis Bay.
PETRONELA SIVAKOVA, CHIEF STEWARDESS
Nella comes to Excellence V after a successful 8 years in yachting. Prior to her life at sea, she resided in London to study English after she obtained her Economics degree in her home country, Slovakia. While in England, Nella worked as a nanny, was a receptionist for a short time and managed the food and beverage department in a hotel. Her interest in traveling took its toll and she ventured out and obtained positions on M/Y Fortunato, M/Y Phoenix 2, M/Y Lady Lola, M/Y Venus and M/Y Helios, all catering to very high end clientele. Nela has a knack for fashion and is always keeping up with the latest trends, complementing the personal stylist and a make up artist in her. She also loves interior design and enjoys fine dining experience. Her multilingual communication skills allow her to cater more specifically to a variety of cultures and nationalities.
PHIL TAYLOR, HEAD CHEF
British Phil was born and raised in Exeter, South West England. After completing a year of business school, he went on to study music in the picturesque seaside town of Brighton. Inspired by the local cuisine of Brighton, Phil decided to pursue his new found love for cooking and began a career in the hospitality industry. Phil spent five years in Michelin star and 3 Rosette kitchens such as "The Greyhound" gastropub, "Drakes" Surrey and "The Square" Mayfair London. Intrigued by the seafaring lifestyle and the new challenge that lay ahead, he packed his bags and headed to Ft. Lauderdale to begin a position onboard the busy charter yacht PASSION as sous chef. He later joined the EXCELLENCE III as sous chef where he trained under the previous long-‐term head chef for over
two years. Presented with an Executive Chef opportunity, he joined the busy charter yacht Lady Joy where he completed a year as sole chef. Phil has now returned to EXCELLENCE V as Executive Chef and like the rest of his fellow crew member still enjoys mountain biking or catching a few waves at his favorite holiday spot back home, St. Francis Bay. is spare time, Phil enjoys playing the guitar, reading, exercising and of course, cooking.
NIKO GARBO, SOUS CHEF
Niko joins Excellence V this season as our 2nd chef. He began his culinary path at the age of 14,
at a restaurant behind his family's home in Italy, just 45 minutes from Venice. Since his passion
blossomed, he has worked in a plethora of restaurants, including the Cipriani Hotel in Venice, the 2* Michelin London restaurant, Connaught, and also with the cruise lines Disney Dream and Seabourn. He has been in the yachting industry for just over a year and has traveled extensively throughout Europe. His fluent in Italian, English and French and travels to Rio de Janiero at least
once a year.
SARAH MITCHELL, SECOND STEWARDESS
Sarah was born and raised in the small southern English town of Haslemere, Surrey. After finishing school she started her career in the hospitality industry, working in restaurants, hotels and luxury B&Bs. After 10 years of hospitality, Sarah decided it was time to head to warmer climates and so started her yachting career in Palma, Majorca. Since 2009 Sarah has worked on numerous
yachts ranging from 70' up to 236', cruising the Mediterranean, US East Coast, Bahamas, Caribbean
& Mexico. In her last 15 years of hospitality, she has learned a thing or two about how to make guests happy. With her friendly, easygoing manner, she will make you feel relaxed and ensure that you have a great vacation. In Sarahs spare time you will find her paddle boarding, working out, taking long lazy walks along the beach or soaking up the sun with a good book in hand.
REBECCA KEARL, STEWARDESS
Rebecca was born and raised in the heart of the Colorado Rockies. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado, Boulder and spent four years after university living and working in Argentina. Rebecca interned at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires in the Press and Events Department, as well as carried out a number of Personal Assistant roles during her time with
the State Department. She moved back to the US four years ago to pursue a career in private service and attended Butler School in Denver with the intention of going into estate management, however, she was intrigued by the yachting industry and decided to try her hand at private service by sea. This is her seventh season in the industry and Rebeccas outgoing personality, passion for service and love of travel keeps her enthusiasm for her job in full bloom. Rebecca is committed to exceeding guests expectations while enjoying all of the unique experiences, opportunities and challenges that the yachting industry has to offer. Her hobbies include learning languages,
exercising, yoga, skateboarding, basketball and calligraphy.
SARAH LIND, STEWARDESS
Sarah was raised in a quaint hamlet called Alton. She grew up with a big loving family of seven; with four brothers and many animals. Being the only daughter, Sarah developed a love for fashion and design and in 2007, she completed her degree in Visual Merchandising. She started freelancing work in the events industry and after three years of freelancing , she started her career in Fashion with a retail company, Joe Fresh, and continued working as a Brand Ambassador. She has a dream of owning her own yoga studio and 'green' cafe back in Toronto. Sarah has been aboard EV for over a year now and is making a great name for herself in the industry.
ASHLEY PLATT, STEWARDESS
Ashley grew up in the small coastal town of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Growing up near the water and having a family fishing business sparked an interest in a career on board the big blue sea. Prior to yachting Ashley worked for Emirates airlines, a Dubai based company, as a stewardess. This is where her passion for excellent service began.In her spare time Ashley enjoys being outdoors, hiking, running, tennis and reading. She recently embarked on her first solo backpack trip to Costa Rica and plans to venture to incredible locations
in the future. Ashley has been on board Excellence V for a year now and is a key part
of the team.

WYNAND BOTHA, SECOND ENGINEER
Born and raised along the laid back coastal town of Port Elizabeth, South Africa Wynand has always enjoyed the outdoors and adventure sport lifestyle. Initially wanting to work on surfing charter yachts after finishing school he opted to study first. In 2006 he graduated from the University of Port Elizabeth with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and further certificates in Projects Management and specific short course studies in Germany. Having spent 5 years working in the
Consulting, Design, Manufacturing & Research environment he decided to leave the Engineering field and follow his other passion and started a company specializing in High-end Architectural application and fitment. Due to economic instability he decided to close the company and re-joined the Engineering field, but this time in the Super Yacht industry. He has since worked on board S/Y Mirabella III, M/Y Leila Lina, M/Y Casta Diva, M/Y Kogo and is now a solid crew member on Excellence V. In his off-‐time or whenever he gets the time, he still enjoys mountain biking or catching a few waves at his favorite holiday spot back home, St. Francis Bay.
PETRONELA SIVAKOVA, CHIEF STEWARDESS
Nella comes to Excellence V after a successful 8 years in yachting. Prior to her life at sea, she resided in London to study English after she obtained her Economics degree in her home country, Slovakia. While in England, Nella worked as a nanny, was a receptionist for a short time and managed the food and beverage department in a hotel. Her interest in traveling took its toll and she ventured out and obtained positions on M/Y Fortunato, M/Y Phoenix 2, M/Y Lady Lola, M/Y Venus and M/Y Helios, all catering to very high end clientele. Nela has a knack for fashion and is always keeping up with the latest trends, complementing the personal stylist and a make up artist in her. She also loves interior design and enjoys fine dining experience. Her multilingual communication skills allow her to cater more specifically to a variety of cultures and nationalities.
PHIL TAYLOR, HEAD CHEF
British Phil was born and raised in Exeter, South West England. After completing a year of business school, he went on to study music in the picturesque seaside town of Brighton. Inspired by the local cuisine of Brighton, Phil decided to pursue his new found love for cooking and began a career in the hospitality industry. Phil spent five years in Michelin star and 3 Rosette kitchens such as "The Greyhound" gastropub, "Drakes" Surrey and "The Square" Mayfair London. Intrigued by the seafaring lifestyle and the new challenge that lay ahead, he packed his bags and headed to Ft. Lauderdale to begin a position onboard the busy charter yacht PASSION as sous chef. He later joined the EXCELLENCE III as sous chef where he trained under the previous long-‐term head chef for over
two years. Presented with an Executive Chef opportunity, he joined the busy charter yacht Lady Joy where he completed a year as sole chef. Phil has now returned to EXCELLENCE V as Executive Chef and like the rest of his fellow crew member still enjoys mountain biking or catching a few waves at his favorite holiday spot back home, St. Francis Bay. is spare time, Phil enjoys playing the guitar, reading, exercising and of course, cooking.
NIKO GARBO, SOUS CHEF
Niko joins Excellence V this season as our 2nd chef. He began his culinary path at the age of 14,
at a restaurant behind his family's home in Italy, just 45 minutes from Venice. Since his passion
blossomed, he has worked in a plethora of restaurants, including the Cipriani Hotel in Venice, the 2* Michelin London restaurant, Connaught, and also with the cruise lines Disney Dream and Seabourn. He has been in the yachting industry for just over a year and has traveled extensively throughout Europe. His fluent in Italian, English and French and travels to Rio de Janiero at least
once a year.
SARAH MITCHELL, SECOND STEWARDESS
Sarah was born and raised in the small southern English town of Haslemere, Surrey. After finishing school she started her career in the hospitality industry, working in restaurants, hotels and luxury B&Bs. After 10 years of hospitality, Sarah decided it was time to head to warmer climates and so started her yachting career in Palma, Majorca. Since 2009 Sarah has worked on numerous
yachts ranging from 70' up to 236', cruising the Mediterranean, US East Coast, Bahamas, Caribbean
& Mexico. In her last 15 years of hospitality, she has learned a thing or two about how to make guests happy. With her friendly, easygoing manner, she will make you feel relaxed and ensure that you have a great vacation. In Sarahs spare time you will find her paddle boarding, working out, taking long lazy walks along the beach or soaking up the sun with a good book in hand.
REBECCA KEARL, STEWARDESS
Rebecca was born and raised in the heart of the Colorado Rockies. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado, Boulder and spent four years after university living and working in Argentina. Rebecca interned at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires in the Press and Events Department, as well as carried out a number of Personal Assistant roles during her time with
the State Department. She moved back to the US four years ago to pursue a career in private service and attended Butler School in Denver with the intention of going into estate management, however, she was intrigued by the yachting industry and decided to try her hand at private service by sea. This is her seventh season in the industry and Rebeccas outgoing personality, passion for service and love of travel keeps her enthusiasm for her job in full bloom. Rebecca is committed to exceeding guests expectations while enjoying all of the unique experiences, opportunities and challenges that the yachting industry has to offer. Her hobbies include learning languages,
exercising, yoga, skateboarding, basketball and calligraphy.
SARAH LIND, STEWARDESS
Sarah was raised in a quaint hamlet called Alton. She grew up with a big loving family of seven; with four brothers and many animals. Being the only daughter, Sarah developed a love for fashion and design and in 2007, she completed her degree in Visual Merchandising. She started freelancing work in the events industry and after three years of freelancing , she started her career in Fashion with a retail company, Joe Fresh, and continued working as a Brand Ambassador. She has a dream of owning her own yoga studio and 'green' cafe back in Toronto. Sarah has been aboard EV for over a year now and is making a great name for herself in the industry.
ASHLEY PLATT, STEWARDESS
Ashley grew up in the small coastal town of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Growing up near the water and having a family fishing business sparked an interest in a career on board the big blue sea. Prior to yachting Ashley worked for Emirates airlines, a Dubai based company, as a stewardess. This is where her passion for excellent service began.In her spare time Ashley enjoys being outdoors, hiking, running, tennis and reading. She recently embarked on her first solo backpack trip to Costa Rica and plans to venture to incredible locations
in the future. Ashley has been on board Excellence V for a year now and is a key part
of the team.
