Rick earned his BA in Legal Studies at Pacific Lutheran University and after eight years in corporate sales, chose to pursue a career in yachting. In 1998 he moved to St. Croix where he lived for two years, sailing the Caribbean on a charter boat. Then in year 2001 he relocated to Santa Barbara to work on a crew boat for Exxon-Mobil. With a desire to rejoin the yachting community, he attended renowned Chapman’s School of Seamanship three month Professional Mariner Training course in Stuart Florida. He earned his USCG Master 200 ton captain’s license and met his wife Catherine. They currently reside in Ft. Lauderdale , Florida
First Mate Catherine Topel is a seventh generation Floridian who attended the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in Landscape Architecture. In 2003, she chose to leave a professional golf career to pursue a lifelong desire to be on the water. Upon attending the renowned Chapman’s School of Seamanship, in 2003 in Stuart , Florida , she earned her USCG Master100 ton captain’s license.
Stewardess Sophie Laroche is French Canadian, born in Montreal. She is a former social worker and teacher of Tai-Chi. In 1997, She chose to move south to the warm Florida sunshine. Shortly after her arrival, she moved to Bimini and spent three years working on a trimaran diving with wild dolphins. She joined Whole Food Market as a team member in the specialty department the year of (2001-2003) where she assisted and educated customers in gourmet nutritional foods. She has a keen interest in health, nutrition and social work and a love for nature's beauty.
