Captain Murphy’s family has always lived on the water. They had part ownership in a house in Key Largo when he was a child, and at that time he got the salt water in his blood. Fishing boats, sport fishing, float trips, canoeing, water skiing, and running around on Lake of the Ozarks was his childhood, and then Michael ended up living in Key Largo. He started running a charter boat out of Islamorada, and still today loves to fish. Diving, hunting, camping, and boating are a major part of his life. He writes articles for yachting newspapers. He has traveled from Europe to Alaska, Panama to the Great Lakes. He has spent 5 seasons sailing around southeast Alaska, and loves nothing better than showing people all of the very special major attractions, as well as the hidden treasure spots he has discovered thru the years.
He has spent 6 winters in the Caribbean in such places as Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Panama, Nicaragua, Bahamas, and nearly all of the Islands. Captain Murphy invites you to join him and his crew aboard Silent World II to have a wonderful trip, and to create some memories of a lifetime.
Randy Pierce - First Officer
Randy was born in Indiana, and was a former Indiana State Deputy Marshal, as well as a NAUI Specialty Diver, before making a career change over to the maritime industry in 2002. He attended Chapman Maritime School in Stuart, Florida, and received his 100 ton Inland and Near Coastal Masters license. He since has worked on several types of vessels, ranging in size from 36’ dive boats on Lake Michigan to a 96’ Fast Ferry Ship out of Los Angeles, California, with trips to Catalina Island. As well as sailing as mate in the waters of the Bahamas and Caribbean aboard passenger ships. An opportunity to sail as Third Mate aboard a 217’ passenger cruise ship out of Seattle, Washington presented itself, sailing the waters of Southeast Alaska, San Francisco Bay and The Sea of Cortez. His professionalism aboard the Spirit of Endeavour advanced him rapidly to First Mate. He joined the Yacht Silent World II and is currently attending required United States Coast Guard classes to upgrade to his 500 ton Ocean Masters License.
Randy has strong work ethics, and has been a great asset to the vessel. He enjoys sight-seeing the various places that the yacht cruises, also playing the guitar, diving, and flying.

Alaina Munson - Chief Stewardess
She was born in Vancouver, Washington, and while attending college, was also a Fire Fighter with EMT certification. She accepted a position as a licensed deckhand aboard Cruise Ship “The Spirit of 98” in 2003, sailing the waters of South East Alaska. She holds her 150 ton Inland Masters License and gaining her sea time to upgrade to 100 ton Master Near Coastal. Alaina was being groomed for a mates position with Cruise West, however due to a family emergency, a decision was made to resign and return home to take care of her family. However being home, did afford her the opportunity to graduate College as well as earn her PADI open water diver certification. Alaina joined the Yacht Silent World II, in May of 2007, with aspirations to become relief mate aboard the Yacht. The American Yacht Institute has conferred upon her the Stewardess Master Course Certification. Alaina has an amazing pleasant demeanor with guest, and is always ready to lend a hand with crew. She has been great asset to the vessel, not only keeping the interior in exceptional condition, but has been very guest oriented, as well as being capable of standing a navigational watch and operating the ships tender to shuttle guest to and from shore. She enjoys traveling, skiing, hiking, diving, camping, and enjoys genuinely meeting new people and looks forward to her future aboard along with the amazing destinations that the yacht travels!
Stewardess - Monica Mesa
Monica was born in Colombia. She started her boating carrier in Costa Rica at the Marina Los Suenos. During that time she worked on the Silent World II under the previous ownership as the Kakela in Costa Rica. She enjoyed traveling, and started looking at other ways to be able to travel, and enjoy life. Before becoming part of our team on the Silent World II, she also worked on various yachts out of the Los Suenos Marina. She enjoys art, camping, horseback riding, bicycling, dancing and traveling. She looks forward to the adventures & new places visited on board the Silent World II.
