Captain Christian Bernier has a passion for sailing and a commitment to excellence. The beauty of the ocean will be shared through his stories. Whether or not your desire is to kick up your heels, dive till you drop, or just relax at a secluded palm lined beach, Captain Christian will ensure you get the vacation of a lifetime. He has an ever going smile – it is obvious he loves what he is doing on board!
Captain Christian holds a US Coast Guard 6 pax license, as well as a French sailing license (ppv), and has been involved in yacht charters since 1973. Christian is French, but as he spent 10 years living in the United States he has an excellent command of the English language. Not only is he fluent in English, but in Spanish as well. He has sailed most of the oceans around the world, including the Pacific, as well as several trans-Atlantic crossings, and is very much an "Outdoors" man.
The early years of Capt Christian’s career were spent in the Mediterranean, including Greece, Italy and Yugoslavia. He then worked extensively on sailing and power yachts in the States along the East Coast, Bahamas and up to the Great Lakes.
In 1986 Capt Christian spent 6 years on a personal 30 foot sloop and travelled from Florida to western France and the Mediterranean and then made a return trip via Morocco, Canaries, Senegal, Brazil, French Guyana, Venezuela and the West Indies.
After his epic journey, Capt Christian spent the next few years chartering mainly in the West Indies, with occasional yacht deliveries across the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.
Capt Christian joined ALINA four years ago and has had great success doing private cruises and charters in the Mediterranean for the summer months, and then crossing ALINA every year to the Caribbean.
