 |  | | Captain: John "Whitey" White | Nationality: Aussie | | Number of Crew 4 | | Crew Profiles: John and Maxine White take great pleasure in welcoming you aboard Lone Star. This couple has many years of experience chartering throughout the Caribbean. They have recently returned to the BVI’s and are thrilled to be your guides and hosts on your island adventure. During their years of chartering, this couple have hosted close to 2000 charter guests. They each have 45,000 blue water miles which includes most of the Caribbean, 18 transits of the Panama Canal, Central America, Mexico, West Coast United States, Hawaii and the South Pacific.
John White, know as Whitey, is a qualified electrical contractor originally from Perth, Western Australia. Whitey is an explorer and adventurer by nature with travels across the Australian outback, a 63 day canoe trip down the Amazon and navigating to out of the way ports. Whitey’s travels took him to Sausalito, California where he stayed 10 years and built a successful fire and burglar alarm company. While in the Bay Area he was very involved in the local sailboat racing scene. Whitey’s gregarious and open personality sets any person at ease. Whitey holds a RYA Yachtmaster Offhore and has been a PADI Dive Instructor for 15 years. He has a passion for Scuba Diving and Instructing and all water sports.
It was in San Francisco that Whitey met Maxine. Originally from the land-locked state of Utah, Max had never been sailing before. She quickly took to sailing and it was not long before she quit her job in the San Francisco Financial District and was sailing with Whitey down the coast of California. In 1992, Whitey and Max married on Cane Garden Bay, Tortola. Maxine is a PADI Dive Master who is as comfortable leading a group of divers or snorkelers in the water or working the sails of a boat as she is in the galley.
Chef Julia Wilson
The focus of Julia’s career has been in the restaurant/hospitality field in the Napa Valley /Sonoma, California region. She has a passion for preparing inspiring meals while entertaining her clients. Julia has a great personality and a love of the ocean and traveling. She has also lived in New Zealand and Canada, and has enjoyed holidays in Europe, Mexico and Belize when she often combined her vacation with work. In the late 1980’s she worked directly for the General Manager of The Auberge du Suleil working her way up to Assistant Manager and In-House Group Sales. The early 1990’s she worked for a catering company and then spent two years as the in-house chef at Sequoia Grove Vineyards where she was able to apply her cooking skills and gain an education with the enologist and viticulturist.
She then held various dining room and maitre’d/management positions to include All Seasons’ Café in Calistoga, Brix in Yountville, and Babette’s in Sonoma. In 1998, Julia was honored to be invited by Daniel Patterson to join his culinary team at a James Beard event in Manhattan with the role of Maitre d’ and Sommelier. in 1999 she began work as General Manager with the critically acclaimed La Toque Restaurant in Rutherford. In 2006, La Toque proudly received the esteemed award of its first Michelin star.
