Captain: Captain: Clive Youlton
Clive has been sailing professionally since 1981, prior to this he was in advertising and motor racing formula Ford cars in the U.K. He has circumnavigated the world, is particular to sailing yachts mostly and has an extensive knowledge of the Caribbean, Mediterranean and New England sailing areas. Clive's most recent charter command was Zingaro, 112' S&S. He holds an MCA Yacht Master 3000 gt. license and is a certified scuba diver. His hobbies include gold, staying fit, kite boarding, tennis, anything active.
First Mate: John Paul English
JP was born and raised in Ireland, always close to the water and sailing. In his early twenties he started traveling and eventually ended up in Newport, RI skippering a Little Harbor for the next 10 years, cruising the East Coast extensively. From there he landed on the 110’ Jongert (?) Sariyah as the first mate. He remained with the vessel covering many miles for the next ten years until she sold. JP holds a Yacht Masters Certificate with Commercial Endorsement. He has an engaging personality and great sense of humor but always with an alert eye to see that his guest are safe and well cared for. He enjoys sailing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and reading.
Engineer: Todd Orrell
Todd grew up in Andover, MA sailing and racing dinghies in Falmouth mostly. He progressed to teaching sailing and the Racing Team in College in Charleston, SC. His team won the national championship in 1986. After college he continued sailing and and honed his carpentry and woodworking skills. By 1997 he was working full time on yachts, most notably a 5 year employment as engineer on board Juliet. Since then he captained several yachts before joining Whisper in Sept. 2009. Todd keeps all Whisper’s systems running efficiently and is also a valuable extra man on deck. He is the proud owner of “Cariaccou” an authentic Antiguan sailing sloop that he maintains immaculately in his spare time and races in the Antigua Classics. He also enjoys skiing and music.
Chef: Chris Deighan
Chris has worked as a personal chef for the last 7 years, alternating between Mountain homes in Vail, Colorado and private & charter yachts in the Caribbean and the East Coast. Prior to that, Chris worked in restaurants in Chicago, Seattle, Birmingham, MI and Cologne, Germany. He has studied Thai cooking in Australia and Italian cooking in the South of France. He enjoys cooking for families and groups, as the challenge of variety is always exciting.
Stewardess: Gail Brown
Gail grew up in Providence, RI and spent her most of her spare time in and on the water. She left college with an Arts Degree and specialized in computer graphics. Gail’s land based career was focused on product development and end design. When she had an opportunity to combine her long time passion for sailing with worthwhile employment she happily accepted the opportunity! Gail joined Whisper in 2008 and since then has looked after her passengers with an always brilliant smile and genuine care for their wellbeing.
Her hobbies and interests include all sports; skiing and tennis in particular and design, painting and work.
