Near-constant sunshine, sandy
beaches, idyllic islands and evocative glimpses
into the past are but a succulent taste of what
Greece has to offer its guests. All this, which
also can include a dip into the plethora of alternate
forms of tourism available, can also be combined
with a taste of the country's national and international
cultural events, some of which are world premieres.
With a history beginning from over 5,000 years
ago Athens, the capital of Greece with well over
2,500,000 inhabitants rightfully poses as a modern
city with a distinctive personality. The very
beginnings of democracy are more than well exhibited
throughout. The Acropolis which majestically overlooks
the city with the Parthenon and Erechteion; Plaka,
the "Old Town" with colorful houses
narrow winding alleys and tourist shops; The everbusy
Syntagma square located right underneath the Greek
Parliament set within a small distance from the
"modern" Kolonaki square.
